Let's Talk About Hair Loss After Weight Loss
After I lost over 50 pounds in 6 months, I noticed my haid rapidly shedding at an alarming rate. I've read about this and figured I was going through telogen effluvium which basically means when the body goes into shock or stress, it can cause an influx of hair loss. In my case, the shock to my system was said rapid weight loss. Not the most rapid change but still rapid, nonetheless. I tried to trust the process and continue on my merry way and wait it out for it to grow back.
I was also going through actual stress towards the end of 2025 when I left an abusive relationship while also dealing with the rapid health decline of my mother. At the beginning of 2025, I did notice my hair shedding more than normal and once again, I figured it was the stress and shock to my system.
Over 7 months later, my hair is at an all time critical level. I trimmed my hair twice hoping to speed up the growth. You know what I mean. But yeah.
However, there was a breakthrough.
Early July 2025 I was admitted to the ER when I thought I was having a heart attack but as it turns out, I was actually anemic. Being critically low in iron can cause...you guessed it, HAIR LOSS.
How the hell did I get to that point? Well, in the beginning of 2025 I was pretty damn depressed so I went from 10k daily steps to 3-5k steps a day for a few months. Once my mother actually died in May, I started looking back at my own mortality. Started to freak the fuck out that I was developing blood clots in my leg due to being so bed ridden. It's a real danger and many people die from blood clots. So at the beginning of June I went from 3-5k steps a day to 20k steps a day! What a drastic change, huh? This was also when I started doing the CashWalk post. You can see in my previous post how I began to drastically go hard in my steps. I continued doing these steps until early July when I started getting really bad chest pains like my heart was tightening. I was also very light headed and dizzy from seemingly nothing. It got extremely bad one day in particular and the following days was bouts of it every so often. Luckily, that was the worst episode. I had a medium level episode and that was my last straw and decided to go to the ER to get checked out. I have no health insurance which was the only reason why I didn't go earlier but I decided to fuck it all and go....worry about medical bills later lol
Glad I went!
Turns out I was anemic. Low in iron. Possibly deficient in other vitals too. Had thrombocytosis which is a very scary term to mean I was high risk for blood clots!
I wasn't at danger levels yet but I was well on my way if I don't change my lifestyle. So yeah. That's where I am at.
